At Human Technologies, we’re proud of our nearly 15-year-long partnership with Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC). This collaboration gives engineering students hands-on experience, allowing them to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios in our operations.
This semester, 11 Mechanical Engineering Tech students in their Lean Six Sigma class joined us weekly over 6-8 weeks to analyze and improve our processes. Their projects included Value Stream Mapping for our Chemical Helmet Cover process and optimizing the transition of our uniform programs to our new warehouse.
This partnership benefits everyone involved. Students refine their skills by tackling real challenges and presenting their findings to an audience that includes our Executive Team while we gain fresh perspectives on our operations. Over the years, some of their suggestions have been implemented to enhance the efficiency of our processes.
One former MVCC student shared the profound impact of this program, saying, “I was unsure about my engineering degree until I came to HT and put my learning into practice. It showed me I was on the right path.”
A huge thank you to MVCC, Professor Jeff Birt, and this semester’s students for another successful collaboration! Together, we’re creating opportunities to learn, grow, and innovate.
