Where Understanding Unlocks Potential
At Human Technologies, every story is a reminder of how meaningful work changes lives. Our latest Mission Moment features Rachel Morgan, a custodian at our Avoca, Pennsylvania facility, where she works as part of our Facilities Management Services line of business. For nearly three years, Rachel has been making a difference for her site, her family, and herself.
Before joining Human Technologies, Rachel struggled to find an employer who could see past the challenges of her health conditions. Too often, her abilities were overshadowed by the symptoms she couldn’t control. “When those conditions show up, a lot of people aren’t as fine with it as they say they are,” Rachel shared.
That changed when she came to Human Technologies.
Rachel describes her experience here as supportive, understanding, and free from the constant anxiety of wondering if a health setback might cost her job. “How many other jobs have made you feel like you were genuinely a part of something and not replaceable?” she said. “Here, I feel like a true asset.”
As her site grew, Rachel stepped into leadership and helped shape the way the work gets done. When Danielle joined the team, the two of them collaborated to build a scheduling system that organizes daily and weekly tasks, adds accountability, and ensures the facility is cared for with consistency and excellence.
The impact of her job reaches beyond the workplace. At home, Rachel says she is less stressed and more present with her family. “I get to be a better mom. I get to be a better wife. I’m happier, more confident, and that makes me better for everyone in my life.”
When asked what work means to her today, Rachel’s answer was simple and powerful: “I could win the lottery tomorrow and still come to work. Work makes me feel important, necessary, essential. It gives me independence and the ability to support myself and my daughter. Work is life—and it should make you happy.”
Rachel’s journey is proof that work done well truly makes everything possible. We are grateful for her commitment, her leadership, and her example of what it means to bring the power of people with purpose to life every day.
